Elland Adds to its Ranks

After securing Brett Baker as MD, Elland Silver Band they are delighted to announce an influx of players that have joined over the past two weeks in readiness for the regionals in March.

Karen Hitchen on 3rd Cornet joins from Diggle Band, Grace Harmen joins on Solo Cornet and is a 4th year student at the RNCM. Ainsley Farrar joins as assistant Principal cornet and is also a 4th year RNCM student and joins from the City of Bradford.  He started his playing with the Elland Youth Band before moving to Chetham’s. Nick Crossland joins on 2nd Euphonium from Hebden Bridge Band.  Alex Barron joins on Solo Euphonium who is also a 4th year RNCM student, and was previously with Wingates Band he also played with the Youth Band before starting at the RNCM.

Captain Gary Clegg of the Yorkshire Military band joins to cover Solo Trombone as the incumbent takes a short break for study leave. Chris Barron joins the band on BBb bass and is the brother of Alex Barron having previously played for Wingates Band.

Finally Jonathon Marriott returns on tuned percussion for the Area competition.

MD Brett Baker said”  I am delighted with the steady influx of new players. This is a determined band. There is an excitement in the bandroom and I am very much looking forward to working with Elland over the next few weeks. We just require a principal cornet now to have a full compliment of players.
